From the name, it's obvious that I wanted to make an expression of playfulness. The content itself is very endearing and weighted heavily on the positive side of artistic interpretation. Nothing about it is unhappy. But, I wanted to push further into that concept by incorporating a violence into both the application of paint and its vivid saturation. I wanted the colors to be unrelenting and loud because in moments that we are enraptured by play, especially as children, there's an aspect of being possessed by the play; like some mischievous spirit that seeks to inhabit our bodies.
